Description: | As a student in one of our Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree programs, you will acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to address the IT issues of today and shape the possibilities of tomorrow.
Gain a broad understanding of information management and specific capabilities in managing digital resources as they affect research data, websites and social media. Our program keeps up with rapid increases in digitization and data-capturing practices while providing you with skills ranging from basic data analytics to advanced big data applications. This foundation provides a basis for building cutting-edge data analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence-based solutions. The library and information technology field has moved to all-encompassing digital solutions in both the private and public sectors. Gain a competitive advantage by having the skills to collect, organize, analyze and utilize data. You will graduate from the IRM program with both a Bachelor of Information Technology from Carleton and a Library and Information Technician diploma from Algonquin College. IRM students have been employed at the Canadian Coast Guard, Department of National Defence, Employment and Social Development Canada, National Research Council Canada and Statistics Canada. IRM career areas: data analytics data visualization; digital information management; e-commerce; library services (academic and public); web design and development. |
